Data & AI Engineer – Search & Intelligence Infrastructure
We’re a boutique agency—small yet impactful—gaining real momentum helping B2B eCommerce industry giants transform digitally with our specialized products and services.
Today, our wins are clear in the multi-million dollar weekly sales achieved online by our clients based in the USA and around the world. And for tomorrow, we’re strengthening our solutions through innovation, customization, and smart AI integration.
When you join Villvay, you don't just join a 'friendly neighborhood offshore development team'—you join a team of solutionizers—critical thinkers who see the whole picture, tackle problems end-to-end, and bring more to the table than anyone expects.
We’re looking for a builder — someone who thrives on connecting data, AI, and enterprise search infrastructure into one seamless engine. You’ll design the pipelines, APIs, and data systems that power intelligence behind large-scale B2B eCommerce search. From real-time streaming to RAG integrations, you’ll make sure every byte of data is clean, fast, and ready for action.
Role
- Build and maintain the data backbone that fuels AI, analytics, and search intelligence at Villvay.
- Design ETL pipelines that move data seamlessly from multiple sources into search and ML systems.
- Collaborate with ML engineers to prepare high-quality datasets for model training and evaluation.
- Optimize data storage, retrieval, and indexing to support low-latency, large-scale queries.
- Enable real-time search relevance updates through streaming and event-driven architectures.
- Partner with DevOps to ensure reliability, scalability, and cloud efficiency across data workflows.
- Experiment with emerging tools like vector databases and semantic indexing to support AI-driven search.
- Bring engineering rigor to data — ensuring every dataset is structured, secure, and purpose-built.
- Working with RAG, MLOps to build LLM Apps
- Design retrieval and augmentation layers (RAG) to connect vector databases, search indices, and API-based knowledge sources.
- Apply engineering rigor to every dataset: versioned, validated, secured, and audit ready.
Core Requirements
- 4–7 years of experience in data engineering or backend development, with exposure to AI/ML data workflows.
- Proficiency in Python or Java, with experience in ETL pipelines and data orchestration tools (Airflow, Dagster, or similar).
- Experience with Elasticsearch or similar indexing systems.
- Solid knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Streaming & Storage: Kafka, Spark Streaming, or cloud-native equivalents.
- Cloud: AWS, GCP, or Azure (must understand cost-optimized, scalable data architecture).
- Databases: SQL and NoSQL proficiency; experience with columnar stores or time-series DBs is a plus.
- AI Integration: Experience working with embeddings, LLM APIs, RAG pipelines, or lightweight MLOps setups.
- Version Control & CI/CD: Git-based workflows, infrastructure-as-code familiarity.
Added Advantages
- Experience supporting AI/ML training pipelines or managing vector databases (FAISS, Pinecone, Qdrant, Weaviate, ChromaDB).
- Hands-on with LLM frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, or DSPy.
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and modern data orchestration environments.
- Exposure to search relevance metrics and experimentation-driven optimization.
- Understanding of model lifecycle management, including data prep, evaluation, and retraining.
- Awareness of data governance, lineage, and security best practices.
